Customer Problem:
In 2015, ATS Components PAE was approached by a major North American operator regarding the Boeing 737NG Alternate Flap Drive Motor. Frequent failures were driving substantial repair spend for the airline. The list price for the main failure item was over $40,000.
ATS Solution:
ATS engineering reviewed the part for viability to develop a DER Repair Specification to fabricate a replacement gearset and lower the cost of repair. Our repair was completed in 2016 and immediately approved by the airline. Shortly thereafter, two additional operators approved the DER RS. As of July 2022, ATS has returned to service approximately 200 units for these three operators utilizing the DER RS, reducing their costs significantly.
